The development policy children’s fund Terre des hommes (french "Earth of humanity") was founded in 1959 by the Swiss journalist Edmond Kaiser in Lausanne (Switzerland). Several legally independent, but merged under one umbrella organization, organizations exist under the name of Terre des hommes.
